Episode Glee-ality

Jolene was a last chance performance sung by Samuel in the finale of the first season of The Glee Project, Glee-ality. It was originally sung by country artist Dolly Parton. This performance secured him as joint winner of the first season of The Glee Project and a seven-episode guest-starring role on Glee.

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene!
I'm begging of you please don't take my man!

Your beauty is beyond compare
With flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green
Your smile is like the breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you, Jolene

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can

Now you can have your choice of men
But I can never love again
He's the only one for me, Jolene
And I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
Do whatever you wanna do, Jolene

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can.

  • This song was later used on Season 3 of Glee and was performed by Dot Marie Jones, who mentored on The Glee Project in Vunerability.
  • He played guitar and performed barefoot.
  • This is the second time an instrument was used in an LCP. The first time was in Love Can Wait.
