Sung by | Cameron Mitchell |
Episode | Sexuality |
Called Back | Yes (But Cameron Quit) |
Blackbird was the song sung by Cameron as his Last Chance Performance in the seventh episode of the first season of The Glee Project, Sexuality. This performance would have saved him for a further week. Cameron, however, broke down after this performance and made the shocking decision to leave The Glee Project. He felt as if he didn't want it as much as the others, and he didn't want to compromise himself. This decision came after a long struggle with the theme of the week and the conflict it raised with Cameron's heavily Christian morals. Ultimately his decision to leave saved his best friend in the competition, Damian, who was slated for eviction that week had Cameron not left.
Lyrics[]
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.
Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Trivia[]
- Interestingly, the Last Chance Performances in this episode were songs that the contenders could sing for their audition song for the New Directions on Glee. However, by the time this episode of The Glee Project aired, this song had been performed by Chris Colfer (Kurt) in Glee's Season 2 episode "Original Song."
- Cameron covered Blackbird after The Glee Project, and posted the video on his YouTube channel.
